According to a recent article in The Spectrum, Dr. Scott Bulloch indicates he sees many people struggling with their teeth. As an oral surgeon at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center in St. George, Dr. Bulloch says “patients will tell me they’re doing everything they can to keep their teeth but they’re still losing them anyway. In most cases, they are missing a key issue somewhere along the way.”
In the article, Dr. Bulloch indicates the most likely culprit is tooth brushing, even for people who brush several times per day. Brushing becomes a routine, and we can miss the same places, especially if we brush too quickly. To reach difficult areas, using a Sonic toothbrush or Waterpik may help. And if you use a regular toothbrush, you have to be careful to not damage your gums.
After tooth brushing, Dr. Bulloch says eating habits are next in dental health importance, followed by regular dental checkups. For more guidance on regular dental checkups and care, please contact us at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center.
